Eco Avenue Schoolhouse Schedule

The Eco Avenue Schoolhouse is a new place on Eco Avenue this year. Take a few minutes on Earth Day to sit down at our shade canopy and learn about a sustainability topic of your choice and meet the folks who are working in the area. The choices are broad so you may return for seconds. Our presenters are all local volunteers and most have booths on Eco Avenue where more in depth information can be located. The schedule is as follows:

12:15pm
Housing Choices — Sustain Mizzou will raise the issue of the true cost of where you live. This approach uses the total costs including transportation and energy when choosing an apartment.

12:30pm
Solar Power — Vaughn Prost of Missouri Solar Applications will present practical solar energy for your home.

12:45pm
Composting — Steve Callis, a volunteer for the city public works will give you a short overview of backyard composting and direct you to additional resources.

1:00pm
Urban Hens — The Center of Urban Agriculture will present on keeping chickens in town. Now that it is legal to keep up to 6 hens in the city limits how do you get started?

1:15pm
Green Burial — Bob James of Ozark Avalon will present an overview of the environmental costs of conventional burial and the alternatives. You can still be an environmentalist even after your lifetime.
